ICRTouch continue to save on CO2 emissions

Energy Efficiency Improvements

Earlier this year ICRTouch achieved a Green Impact award for its energy efficiency improvements across the business. Since then further improvements have been made at the ICRTouch Campus in Sandown, Isle of Wight.

All the lights in building 1 are now LED. Including our refurbished ground floor and first floor main offices. LED lighting uses up to 90% less energy, significantly reducing lighting costs. They also very rarely need replacing.

We have had localised air conditioning units installed for efficient, isolated heating/cooling of all areas in our buildings. These can automatically regulate the temperature in their respective areas.

We have cleared the outside area throughout the campus grounds and cleaned all skylights to allow for more natural light to enter the buildings. All our windows are A++ rated thermal energy-efficient glass to radiate and retain heat within office spaces.

We have also introduced compostable cups throughout the company to reduce single use plastic bottles and cups.

As a part of our green strategy, we are continually looking for ways in which we can increase the energy efficiency of our buildings and generate our own clean energy. ICRTouch installed 51 x 280W solar panels which feed into the mains on building 1 earlier this year. But are they doing the job and were they worth the £12k investment? Well, so far they have generated around 13.3 megawatts! In fact, we are now looking at installing further solar panels onto building 1, which will feed into a solar battery to power the building during the evening and shorter days through the winter. We predict that we should make back the initial investment cost within 7-8 years.

As we begin refurbishment on the south-facing buildings 3 & 4 in the coming months, we plan to install further solar panels which should (in theory) out-perform those on building 1.
